The final rules for the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 were published on November 13, closing the lasts steps to ensure requirements of the law. The 2008 Act requires group health plans and health insurance issuers to make certain that co-pays, deductibles and treatment limitations (such as number of visits allowed) for mental health and substance use disorders, are no more restrictive than those for medical and surgical benefits.
