The Specialist in School Psychology (SSP) program at LSU Shreveport earned a seven-year accreditation and full approval from the National Association of School Psychologists, according to LSUS news.

The program passed the national standards on 92% of quality indicators, according to the report. Students from the accredited program are automatically eligible for state and national certification. The SSP is a 72-hour program directed by Dr. Kevin Jones, LSUS Associate Professor and Past President of the Louisiana School Psychological Association.

The Times talked with Dr. Jones about the accreditation. “I was particularly pleased that the report recognized our strengths,” he said. These included, “data-based problem-solving, professional accountability, and rigorous internship standards.”
